Activate VW Golf MK8 Matrix LED System
Remote activation of the full Matrix LED headlight function – Dynamic Light Assist (DLA) – on US and Canadian MK8 Golf GTI and Golf R. Your IQ.Light headlights already contain the Matrix hardware; Volkswagen only enabled it on European cars with the Light & Sight package. In one remote session of about 30 minutes we switch it on with genuine VW software. No parts, no dealer visit, and it can be reverted on request.
What you get
- Dynamic Light Assist (Matrix high beam) – uses the car's camera to switch individual LED segments off around oncoming traffic and cars ahead, so you drive with high beams on without dazzling anyone. It also adapts the pattern for rain, highway, rural and urban driving.
- Cornering light – throws light into the bend as you turn.
- Marking light – an extra beam that picks out pedestrians, animals or obstacles at the roadside.
- Race activation (Golf R only) – makes the Matrix function far more aggressive in Race and Nürburgring drive modes, and active at high acceleration even in lighter conditions.
- Included free with the activation: engine start/stop disable (DSG cars).
Which cars qualify
- 2022–2024 Golf R – all trims, including the 2023 20th Anniversary Edition (DSG or manual)
- 2022–2024 Golf GTI Autobahn (DSG or manual)
- 2022–2024 Golf GTI 40th Anniversary Edition – Canadian cars only
Not available for the GTI S, GTI SE and the US-market 40th Anniversary Edition – those trims lack the required headlights and camera. 2025 and newer MK8.5 Golf GTI and Golf R are not supported: VW changed the headlight hardware on these cars as well as adding SFD2 security, so the Matrix function cannot currently be activated on them. Other activations for the MK8.5 – Harman Kardon sound improvement, Travel Assist auto lane change, lock-when-leaving and a range of coding options – are available in the VW Feature Activation Suite. How the remote session works
- Order the activation and, if you don't have one, the DoIP cable and USB-Ethernet adapter ($39.95, yours to keep).
- Book a session time. You receive a confirmation email with the preparation steps.
- At the session, plug the cable into the OBD port and your laptop and run FlexiHub so our technician can connect.
- We perform the activation remotely – usually about 30 minutes; a slow internet connection can make it longer.
What you need
- A laptop (or Android phone with USB-C) next to the car: Windows 7/8/10/11, an Apple-silicon Mac on macOS 10.15+, Linux (Ubuntu 20.04+) or Android 5.0+.
- A stable internet connection and the free FlexiHub app.
- An ENET DoIP cable with USB-Ethernet adapter, a VAS5054, or a VAS6154. Ross-Tech/VAGCOM, Tactrix, J2534, Unitronic UniCONNECT+, APR Ultralink/Cheetah, 034Motorsport R4, COBB Accessport and VCP cables do not work.
- SFD unlock: 2022–2024 cars need the SFD security unlocked for the session. We do this remotely for a $20 surcharge, or you can do it yourself with an OBDeleven Pro/Ultimate plan.
