Makes your 2022–2024 MK8 Golf GTI or Golf R remember its drive mode on every ignition cycle – no more re-selecting Sport, Race or Custom each time you start the car. Programmed remotely in about 30 minutes; reversible on request.

What it does

• The last selected drive mode is restored at every start, with all your Custom/Individual settings intact.
• Golf R: starting in Race mode keeps the exhaust valves open. The steering-wheel R button is re-mapped so a soft press cycles through all six modes (Comfort → Sport → Race → Drift → Special → Custom); a hard press still jumps straight to Race.

Good to know

• It remembers the drive mode, not the gearbox setting – if you expect the DSG to come back in S every time, this isn't for you (it occasionally defaults to D).
• Golf R: Drift and Special (Nürburgring) are sub-modes and are not remembered across a restart.

• 2022–2024 Golf GTI – S, SE, Autobahn and 40th Anniversary Edition (US and Canada), DSG or manual
• 2022–2024 Golf R, including the 2023 20th Anniversary Edition

Not available on 2025+ MK8.5 cars (SFD2 security).

How the remote session works

1. Order the activation and, if you don't already have one, the DoIP cable and USB-Ethernet adapter ($39.95, yours to keep).
2. Book a session time. You receive a confirmation email with the preparation steps.
3. At the session, plug the cable into the car's OBD port and your laptop, and run FlexiHub so our technician can connect.
4. We do the programming remotely – usually about 30 minutes; a slow internet connection can make it longer.

What you need

• A laptop (or Android phone with USB-C) next to the car: Windows 7/8/10/11, an Apple-silicon Mac on macOS 10.15+, Linux (Ubuntu 20.04+) or Android 5.0+.
• A stable internet connection and the free FlexiHub app.
• An ENET DoIP cable with USB-Ethernet adapter, a VAS5054 or a VAS6154. Ross-Tech/VAGCOM, Tactrix, J2534, Unitronic UniCONNECT+, APR Ultralink/Cheetah, 034Motorsport R4, COBB Accessport and VCP cables do not work.
• SFD unlock: 2022–2024 MK8 cars need the SFD security unlocked for the session – we do it remotely for a $20 surcharge, or you can use your own OBDeleven Pro/Ultimate plan.

Price and ordering

Drive mode remembering is $124.95. Usually added to a Matrix or Harman Kardon session. To order, configure your exact vehicle in the VW Feature Activation Suite – it shows only the features that fit your car and the exact price, and lets you add other activations to the same session.
