To use aftermarket lights on your MK6 GOLF R, you'll need to convert your Bi-Xenon spec 14-pin harness to a Standard 10-pin OEM pin.
Please note that the Golf R does not include a DRL in the headlight; instead, it's located in the bumper. This two-way harness is designed to plug into both the headlight and the factory DRL in the bumper.
It's important to keep in mind that AFS and auto level should be coded out to avoid errors that could potentially appear in VCDS. However, if any AFS errors do occur, the functionality of the harness will not be affected.
The harness can function similarly to a factory setup without the need for any coding.

When I bought my North American Golf 8 R, I was disappointed to find out that the IQ Matrix headlights were not the same as the European ones but after getting this coding modification, the Matrix headlights have greatly improved over what they previously used to be able to do. I want to thank Anthony and his team at ACM Technik for finding an alternative solution to this dilemma instead of having to spend over $5000 for the European IQ Matrix headlights retrofit.
Ryan was very patient and informative before and during the activation process. The Matrix activation is one of the best mod you can get for your car. It's fantastic how much you can see at night without blinding other car! I really love it!
It even comes with a lifetime warranty if the dealer ever remove the function.

Installed earlier today and seems to work without issue. But I did want to add some extra details to assist others with installation.
If you unhook the battery without engaging the steering wheel lock, it won't engage. If you can park on a relatively smooth surface, it isn't too hard to turn the wheel without power steering.
1. Cycle the ignition, put the steering wheel into the first position (see their videos). Turn off the vehicle without engaging the lock (get out without turning the wheel at all).
2. Unhook the negative terminal, its a 10 mm. I like to wrap the harness size with a towel to make sure it won't get bumped back on.
3. Go back to the car and unhook the left and right airbag clips. The access hole is really close to the bottom of the wheel. You only need to do the two sides, the bottom will just hinge and fall out.
4. I don't unplug the airbag itself, just set it out of the way. Free the wiring from below the aluminum part of the wheel. Lift the back portion of the module and push it backwards to get it out.
5. Swap parts and re-assemble in the reverse order.
