Do I need to disconnect the battery before swapping the old light?
Not required, but it's good practice to turn off the ignition and let the system sit for a minute. The factory connector is keyed and pulls straight out—no special tools needed.
Will this bolt to the same mounting points as the stock brake light?
Yes. The housing uses factory mounting points—no drilling, cutting, or bracket modifications. Test-fit after removal of the old unit to confirm alignment before locking down.
Can I repaint the red lens if I want a different color?
The lens is pre-molded red polycarbonate. Painting over it is possible but will reduce light output and LED visibility. Most builders leave it factory red or source a different-color lens separately.
